My research examines how effectively parliaments fulfil their democratic functions.

A core theme that runs through almost all of my research is the role of parliaments in democratic politics - whether it is looking at an institutional level to examine how effectively scrutiny is delivered through committee structures, or at an individual level to explore how the beliefs and practices of MPs and officials affect parliamentary politics.
